Detailed Product Description:
This is an industrial quality resorcinol/formaldehyde adhesive that
is waterproof/boilproof and is typically used for structural wood beams.
Due to its strength, and its resistance to the elements, it is often
recommended for wood aircraft construction. This adhesive was used
on the Bellanca Viking and the French Robin aircraft without a single
glue joint failure. Ideal for marine applications for maximum resistance
to the elements. Popular for restoring classic wood boats and yacht
construction.
The cured glue line, purple in color, is completely resistant to fresh or
salt water, most acids, organic solvents, lubricating oils and greases.
Chemistry:
This is an “RF” adhesive system. The resin is a purple/brown alcohol/water
solution of partially condensed resorcinol/formaldehyde resin. The hardener
is a powder comprised of paraformaldehyde and cellulosic filler.
