Cleaner/Polish For Plastics
Clear plastics as used on face shields, aircraft windshields, flat screens etc. present a unique challenge. Plastic is generally very soft and scratches easily. Plastic is also an insulator and tends to build a static charge. Taken together, these two characteristics conspire to create an abrasive-covered surface which most people will simply wipe with a cloth completely unaware of the damage they are doing to the surface.
To successfully clean and maintain plastics it would therefore be desirable to minimize the surface’s tendency to build a static charge so it doesn’t attract particles of abrasive dust. Second, it would be ideal to have a cleaner that had the ability to fill micro scratches to enhance optical clarity.
Plexus plastic cleaner was originally formulated for aircraft windshields and, in fact, is specified for the B1 bomber. We have used it on everything from helicopter bubbles to helmet shields, from convertible top rear windows to naugahyde upholstery. Nothing else comes close to its subdued gloss, its scratch hiding properties, its anti-static properties, and its longevity.
