Detailed Product Description:
Twill weaves offer a compromise between satin and plain types, as well
as an often desirable herringbone cosmetic finish. The 2 x 2 “twill weave,”
provides a bit more strength than the plain weave but is not as unidirectional
in its strength characteristics as the satin weave.
The twill weave is considered a high strength, high modulus fabric. It has a
high stiffness ratio, and a high strength-to-weight ratio as well.
The twill weave is characterized by the "twill line" or diagonal appearing rib.
The 2 x 2 Twill weave means that each fill thread floats over two warp threads, then
under two warp threads.
Application Notes:
Twill is more pliable than plain weave and has excellent drape while maintaining
stability. For composite construction it is typically used in conjunction with
vinylester or epoxy resin systems to maximize the benefits from this fabric’s properties.
