Detailed Product Description:

A low viscosity, medium strength, threadlocking liquid, Loctite® 290 wicks

along the threads of pre-assembled fasteners to secure them in place.  Penetrating

threads by capillary action, it secures set screws and other fasteners after they

are installed.  Seals welds and porous metal parts.  Protects threads from rust

and corrosion.

Performance Parameters:

Torque capability, M10 steel nuts and bolts: 85 in. lbs. (break), 250 in. lbs. (prevail).

A medium-strength threadlocker for pre-assembled bolts up to 0.5" (12 mm).

Application Notes:

Recommended Primers: 7649(Primer N) or 7471(Primer T)

Localized heating and hand tools are needed for disassembly.

Solvent Resistance:

Loctite 290 is resistant to common solvents such as acetone, ethanol, gasoline,

brake fluids, antifreezes and motor oils with little effect on strength after prolonged

exposure.

Precautions:

Contains methacrylate ester which may cause allergic skin reaction or eye irritation.

Not recommend for use in pure oxygen and/or oxygen rich systems and should not be

selected as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidizing materials.  Also not

recommended for use on plastics where stress cracking of the plastic can result.  Users

are advised to confirm compatibility of the product with such substrates or consider

the use of Loctite Type 425 specifically designed for plastics and plastic fastener retention. 

Packaging:

Loctite 290 comes packed in a 10 milliliter (0.67 ounce) plastic squeeze bottle with

convenient dispensing tip.
